Considered as the largest city in the world, Davao has become “home base” to so many multinational and local companies because of the rich resources available therein, like manpower and raw materials as well as many natural attractions that seem to attract tourists from all over the world. Add to this assets are the people themselves who are warm and hospitable and disciplined. Whenever the team of “Eat’s a Small World” visits Davao, we always check-in at “The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites”. We have been staying here since our first visit to Davao in 2009 and it was followed by three more stays in a span of eight years. It has certainly become our “second home” when we’re in Davao.

Why do we always stay at The Pinnacle? Mainly because of its price and location. It is right smack at downtown Davao and is a few minutes walk to the nearest mall. The facade is not pretentious and they have this mini porte cochere which we love.
The lobby can be quite imposing with its sprawling space and three-story high ceiling. A whiff of cool air embraces you upon entering the hotel which we like. The security is quite strict but that’s good news for us.
This huge arrangement of “sexy pink” heliconias and white phalaenopsis greets visitors. These tropical flowers are bountiful in Davao.
The last time we were here, the coffee shop occupied only a portion of the ground floor. On this 2017 visit, the coffee shop already encroached on the lobby – it must really be doing good!
The grand staircase is a favorite spot for brides and debutantes having their photo shoot.
The ceiling didn’t have that blue light before. It’s nice to know that they update the interiors every now and then. After that ground floor walk-through, let’s see the status of their guest rooms…
Well, if it’s fluffy pillows, clean sheets, lots of space and big beds you want, you’ll get it here.
A secretary complete with the hotel’s compendium, brochures, writing pads, etc. You don’t need to bother the operator. Just read through the literature there and you’re good.
A large flat-screen LED television with cable is always good news for me. The free WiFi is quite good.
The toilet is still the same – it is clean and equipped with basic toiletries.
The towels though need to be upgraded.
Although the “window type” aircon is still functioning well, it would be good for the hotel’s image and for the environment as well if the “split type” is installed.
This is the view from our window.
There is an indoor wading pool and jacuzzi
Adjacent to it is the gym.
In between the gym and the pool is a snack bar.
The room hasn’t changed much over the years. Is this good? Hmmm…let us put it this way – we always say that a house, mall, building, restaurant, more so a hotel or resort is like an attractive lady: she always has to look good. There must always be something new happening to her. She must always look interesting. We have to admit that a great majority of the population (especially millennials) are always looking for new and exciting things. Therefore, a little upgrade here and a little update there will do wonders!
Will we recommend The Pinnacle to you? Why, certainly yes. The staff are friendly. The service is good and the facilities are enough to give you a satisfying stay. It has 10 function rooms that can accommodate 15 to 550 people. There is a Business center with internet, fax and photocopying services. Airport transfers and car rental services may be arranged and safety deposit boxes are available at the front desk.
