Park View Hotel, Singapore: Best Value

As usual, when we are making travel plans, we consider a lot things. For accommodations, we look at the rates, the location (its accessibility), the amenities and services offered. We search for comments on the internet and then, decide. So when I went to Singapore, I did all those things and, I chose Park View Hotel

Park View Hotel
Address: 81 Beach Road, Singapore 189692
Contact Numbers: +65 6338 8558 and +65 6334 8858

The location couldn’t be more perfect because it is on Beach Road where everything is almost within reach: walking distance to restaurants, shopping malls, churches, bus stops, etc. A couple of blocks away is the historic Raffles Hotel. Just outside the hotel is the Bus Stop which will take you to Singapore’s major tourist attractions. Actually, from the airport, we took the train and just walked about four to five blocks to our hotel. Location is really very good.

The lobby is very intimate. We were greeted by a Filipina Front Desk Receptionist who was very welcoming. Check-in was only less than 5 minutes. We brought our luggage ourselves because we traveled light for this trip. It is the return back to Manila that we will require an extra hand (because of the minor shopping that will follow).

On our way to our room, I noticed that the hotel is not “young” but it is well-kept and clean.

I noticed too that there are rooms which had no window and these are located at the middle portion of the hotel. These are the Standard Rooms. I don’t like rooms without windows because I am claustrophobic. So, when you make a reservation, ask for a room with a window – unless windowless rooms are fine with you.

When we chose this hotel, we knew that it was a very modest hotel – BUT very clean. We just wanted a hotel where we could sleep well and freshen up because most of the time, we would be out exploring the city anyway. Park View provided us just that.

The room that we got was spacious with clean, immaculately white sheets.

The “open closet” was just enough to hang our clothes.

There was a television inside which was all I needed for entertainment while inside the room. Furthermore, there was a mini-ref, coffee and tea service, air-conditioning, WiFi, room safe, telephone and bedside control panel.

It had a small window which afforded its occupants the view of a small park behind the hotel. There is a convenience store a few steps away. Parking is at the back part of the hotel just beside the park.

The toilet/bathroom was clean with basic amenities like soap, shampoo and hair dryer. The towels were ok. Hot shower was not a problem. I was happy with the room. It was not luxurious nor opulent but simple and comfortable. Best value indeed.

Bus Stop is just in front of the hotel. In less than 10 minutes, you are in the area of Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion Park.  It is walking distance to the popular Bugis area and Victoria Street.

It is also a hop away from Liang Seah Street which becomes a foodie’s paradise at night. The road is blocked in the evening giving way to food hawkers. The smell of the food being cooked here dominates the air and even if you’re not hungry, you are tempted to sample the cuisine offered thereat.

Breakfast buffet at Park View Hotel is included in their rates (at least in our case: on line booking). Nothing fancy on their buffet but very filling. Too bad I wasn’t able to take pictures of the buffet. I was busy taking pictures of ourselves.

Overall, I could say that our stay at Park View Hotel was fine. We did not encounter any discomfort or problems of any sort. Will I recommend this to you? Well, if you are looking for a basic hotel that has a good location, with rooms that are cool, comfortable and clean, then by all means, stay at this hotel.
